Experience

I attended Northern Arizona University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My bachelor's is in English, and a minor in Philosophy. My master's is in Literature. Obviously, reading is one of my great passions, as is writing. Some of my favorite books and series are The Wheel of Time, Plato's Five Dialogues, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Harry Potter. I have eclectic tastes. I enjoy talking with others and analyzing what we have read together. I'm also writing a dystopian fantasy series, and working on writing some nonfiction narratives. I have experience as a graduate teaching assistant, where I taught freshman composition and an advanced composition class. I have also tutored in the writing center on campus. In addition, I have experience working with America Reads, where I taught others to read, analyze literature, and write both essays and creatively. Creating writing and literature are my life. When tutoring students, I frequently quote popular movies, which helps them relate to what we are learning, and I love to include writing. I believe tutoring should be done in a relaxed and entertaining way, and always find a way to make learning enjoyable. Caring about a subject is the only way to learn it, so I focus a lot on that.
