Private tutor in Phoenix, AZ
Northern Arizona University - BSEd., Secondary Education - Mathematics
I attended Northern Arizona University, where I received a degree in education with a focus on secondary mathematics. Even as a child, I saw the world through the eyes of a mathematician. I spent my time counting and trying to find patterns in everything around me. It was not until I entered high school that I noticed how mathematics offered me a safe space. Math class was a space where I felt intelligent and empowered. High school was also where I found my second calling, tutoring. In high school, I worked as a volunteer and tutored students in afterschool programs. It was my love for tutoring that helped me decide to become an educator. As a teacher, I used my knowledge in mathematics to help many other students who needed academic guidance. I subsequently discovered that I did not enjoy teaching in a classroom as much as I enjoyed working with students on an individual basis.Being able to work one on one with pupils means that I get to participate in the joy of their success and achievements. I am eager to provide individual support to my students and help them overcome their challenges. Moreover, working as an individual tutor allows me to see and share my students' successes.
