Education
I went to college at the University of Arizona where I graduated with a bachelors in Elementary Education in 2010. During my third year of teaching I felt I was not finished learning and went back to school to receive my masters. I graduated in December with a masters in Literacy Education.
Experience
During the school year I teach 3rd grade. I have been a 3rd grade teacher for the past 5 years. Therefore, I have a lot of experience working with primary aged students. In my classroom, I work with struggling learners by providing them with small group interventions on a daily basis. I have a taught after school tutoring at my school through out the school year by providing students with other reading and math strategies to help them grow as learners. It is such a joy watching students grow. In December, I graduated with a Masters in Literacy Education. With this degree I was able to obtain a vast amount of knowledge and strategies to use with primary aged students to help them grow as readers. I believe in providing students with an authentic learning experience to help them succeed as life long learners. I also have a strong belief in teaching phonics with the combination of authentic literature. WIth this combination I feel student are able to apply small phonics skills in real reading tasks. I was an honor to received the Teacher of the Year Award at my school.

Hobbies
On my free time I love to spend time with my two dogs. One is a 5 year old cattle mix named Bisbee and the other is a 1 year old yellow lab named Barkley. On a nice day, I enjoy taking them to the park to play fetch or the pool to go for a swim. I also enjoy the outdoors and exercising. Yoga and hiking are my favorite! Yoga to me is not only a work out but a great way for me to relax and clear my mind.
