I've been working as an educator for five years, and have personally seen the positive effects teachers have on their growing students. I'm very passionate about reading and literature, especially because books have a way of really stimulating our imaginations and taking us outside of ourselves to new landscapes. I'm a huge fan of nonfiction and writing in general (creative and otherwise) because they have the capacity to transform and promote growth in the readers. In my tutoring, I try to encourage students to see the transformative possibilities of reading and writing. I'm experienced in teaching Literature, Writing, Grammar and Mechanics, and Creative Writing. I've worked with young students, old students, and I am comfortable teaching adults, too. Writing is a form of communication and transference, and is always, in some way, a creative process. I like to help students see how important writing and reading abilities are to daily life. Being passionate about what I teach is an important way that I try to influence my students. It's also important to stress access and application for writing and reading. I try to make the subjects relatable to each of my students. In my free time, I enjoy hot yoga, traveling, watching Game of Thrones, and a number of other HBO series.
