Experience

I currently tutor for Brainfuse, an online company, where I help college and high school students with essay writing, reading, literature, and problem solving. I also tutor ESL students. I tutor for a second company called Eduwizards. I taught high school and middle school Language Arts in Arizona schools for about eight years, and I taught in Maine for one year. I enjoy tutoring from home because the online format allows me to work with the student one on one, and focus on what help they need. In addition to my English Teaching certification, I held a certification in ESL teaching as well as Bilingual Education. I am not bilingual, but I know enough Spanish to teach English to a Spanish speaker, and I know enough about second language acquisition to help any English learner to be successful. I enjoy teaching writing and literature, because i feel that Language Arts is a powerful form of human expression, and it is through literacy that we truly can embrace and understand the human experience.

Hobbies

I have two children: a teenager and a toddler. I enjoy watching them learn and grow. I have always been into raising and showing dogs with my family. I am an avid hiker and reader. Photography is my passion, even Iphone photography can be unique and fun. I volunteer at the North Mountain Visitor's Center to help hikers find the best routes, as well as learn about the ecology of the area.
